Play practice


We have been practicing our parts for the play almost every day.Our title of the play is Aesop's Fables. It is on 11th of December 2009. Teachers have been helping us with our parts and costumes. And today is friday 4th and we have crazy hair day. Yesterday we have been helping teachers to make costumes and blowing balloons and we had a half day. We hope that our play is gonna be good!

Unit of Inquiry How we express ourselves Y5

Our class is learning about poetry.We have been exploring poetry books and have found out that some poetry can rhyme, that poetry can be funny, ridiculous, some of them are lying, some of them can teach you. We were asking questions about poetry like- do they have rhyme? Does poetry need sense? Is poetry the only type of creative writing? Why did they make poetry?

Our class had an art lesson with Ms. Sih-yu, we've made flowers made of colour paper of our favourite colour then we decorated our classroom walls with these flowers.

a little bit late!

Hi this is year 5. We have been doing a lot lately. Our new unit of inquiry is about how to express ourselves. Our central idea is: manipulating and arranging words can create unique perspectives of the world. We are learning about poetry. We are waiting for a penpal letters. Also today it was our assembly and we did a global warming exercise. Anastasia was planet Earth. We put blankets on her everytime we did an activity that used fossil fuels- like tv, psp, etc. This was to show people about global warming.

Another week!

This week we wrote to our pen pals. If you don't know what a pen pal is- it means you write a letter to someone you don't know in a different country. On Wenesday we went to sports. It was really fun. We were playing cricket, we were practicing batting and bowling. We went swimming on Thursday and we got to dive in the water. We also practiced our singing with Miss Luiza for our school play. Everyday we practice our new poem called 'The 4 Elements'. The 4 Elements is Earth, Air, Fire, Water.We are also doing painting. Year 5 LOVES painting. Azzam is going to say stuff in the assembly like how much energy we saved from switch off fortnight. We also do buddy reading every Friday. It means older kids go and help younger kids read.

Year 5 taking action




Yesterday we went to Buckingham Place to protest for the environment because we were learning about that for our unit of inquiry: Sharing the Planet. We handed out fliers that we made at school. When we were there we started giving out fliers to people. Some people took the time to read them, but some didn't even bother.

That's the thing we should keep in mind next time we do something like this. When we were there our classmate, Idan, was giving out fliers and explaining to people about whats happening to our environment. There was an old man about 74 years old. He was talking to him saying that we're using too much energy, there's no hope and it's too late to save the earth. Idan was really freaked out and all you know.

Then everyone was going near the old man to listen to what he was saying. While that was happening, the others were still giving out fliers. We also took a class photo. After we gave out the fliers and when we were all REALLY exhausted, we took a short break. There we ate our snacks and we saw the changing of the guards. We also saw a really long line or queue outside the palace. Miss Anna said that when the flag is up on the palace the QUEEN was there! Cool! After the break ended we got in the school bus and set off.
