On Friday 15th of January 2010 we had a poetry workshop with a poet called Joseph Coelho also known as poetryjoe. Year 6 came too. Joseph read us a few of his own poems. One of them was in a book called 'READ ME'. He was funny. He was born in London. He taught us 5 things you can do to make a poem interesting. Then we made some of our own poems. We asked him questions about his life and about his job. We had a good day!

Happy New Year
Hello
And Happy New Year.
There is frost on the grass, so we did frost painting. We put our paintings outside on the frost and later in the day we found frost on them.
In maths we made a 2010 year calender. We also put special events.
In poetry we learned about haikus and cinquains. A haiku has 3 lines- the first line has 5 syllables, the second line has 7 syllables, the third line has 5 syllables.
A cinquain is a poem with 5 lines. This week our class did a double bubble map to compare haikus and cinquains,it was so much fun!
Every term we have a new poem to learn and this term we are learning The Crowning of the Year.
Good Bye And see you later!
